They finally caught up with me

I was at a military reenactment show yesterday.
These gents were in uniform from the 1916-1921 period of Irish history.
Impossible to get a clean background.

Re: Ferns in the Forest

Interesting study.
Were you using flash?
The light seems to fall of towards the edges of the pictures.
Very nice detail and separation of the sybject.

Re: Bunnies and Birds

Excellent photos, David.
You captured the bunny perfectly.
The two skimmers (?) on the signpost is a great action shot.

Re: Fallow deer in the long grass.

If those gals weren't so cute I'd take offence. but I'm defenceless against their superpowers ;-) Grainne is off to Vietnam, Cambodia and all points east next month after completing her studies. Can't wait to see what photos she brings back. I'm very happy with the X5. I love the ride height. The ru...

Re: Fallow deer in the long grass.

You make a compelling case Johnny :-) Thats a great system you have, and I agree - why would you change it ? I fondled an A7RIII a while back. The layout was similar to my old Nex6, and that was one of the problems (apart from the crazy price - over $3000 US and thats body only). I'm used to the Nik...

Re: Fallow deer in the long grass.

Thanks Johnny. I must have been breathing heavily when I stabbed the shutter ;-) The Tamron is about 2Kg which is around 2.5Lbs in old money. Its an awkward thing to carry when youre scrambling up and dow hills. My friend is about to get his hands on a 24-300 for his crop sensor Nikon. Wouldn't be t...

Fallow deer in the long grass.

I clambered up a mountain called Tonelagee ( translates as " arse to the wind " ). 818 metres but the last 120 got the better of me. I went over on my ankle and landed on my "wallet region" as the doctors call it, so like a big baby I limped home without getting to the summit :-( I'd seen this fello...

Re: Swallows and Gulls

The swallows are superb. I like the perched one even though the one in flight must have been the more difficult photo to make.
That gull really draws my eye. is his head that dark ? I'm used to seeing black-headed gulls which are dark brown .
