Re: Winnipeg Challenger...

Update: the guy in the third shot was runner up at this tournament. He qualified for the Rogers Cup tournament in Montreal which is a tier 1 tournament. He's now playing another Canadian in the first round.

Re: F-101 Voodoo business end

The Century Series saw some really neat airplanes with great names: F100 Super Saber, the F101 Voodoo, the F102 Delta Dagger, the F104 Starfighter (the rocket with wings), the F105 Thunderchief (the Thud), and the F106 Delta Dart. The little town that I grew up in had an airbase that housed the F86 ...

F-101 Voodoo business end

Went to the Royal Air Museum over the weekend. Here's the business end of this really fast airplane with a great name. I did the B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro 2:

Re: Winnipeg Challenger...

Thanks, Chimpy! This action stuff isn't my cup of pixels, but I was involved in tennis for some time. I went back Thursday to get some more action practice. One thing I have to mention; shooting with my 5DIII w/battery grip and the 70-200 f2.8II is a real joy! Had to get that editorial comment out. ...

Re: Sony A9

I'm not going to take Tony's advice, per se, since I don't like Sony cameras. All I was trying to point out is that the two major complaints about the A9 early on aren't really a factor and that's overheating and banding. His photographic skills have nothing to do with the camera's performance from ...

Re: Winnipeg Challenger...

Thanks for the kind words! I do like the foot blur, but the ball is out of round. Anyway, here's another shot. It's a wonder these guys don't turn their ankles more often:

Winnipeg Challenger...

After 5 weeks sitting idle, I finally got my camera out. Barbara and I went to the Winnipeg Challenger Tennis Tournament for the qualifying rounds on Sunday. I like this shot, not so much because it's anything special, but because of the intense concentration on the player's face. He's a Brit, but I...

Re: Sony A9

I'm not a Sony fan by any stretch. I wouldn't trade a whole field full of them for my Canon. But in defense of the A9, Tony did some extensive testing on the one he bought. He couldn't get it to overheat and he has no banding problems. Tony has been a very vocal critic of Sony for the overheating pr...

IR photography...

I bought a Hoya 72 IR filter just before I left for Winnipeg. I managed to get out one day and here's the result. It's a 30 second exposure as it blocks most of the light frequencies:
