I was down in Glenmalure, south Wicklow and had a bit of an incident.

Sorry to see that Rod; I hope the X5 was OK. As the signs say in China - Stay on road. Was it a distraction, an avoidance or a planned incident? Get yourselves on of those lift kits and some big tires for that sort of stuff. Or, better yet, get yourself a two-wheeled screamer to zip through that stuff 8-)

ISHT..! Glad you are OK.. Vehicles can be repaired... Ignore Jonny, stick to four wheels, far, far, safer, my confidence in such a determination is that I have rolled around on Tarmac more than once, and at "our" age we definitely do not bounce as well as we used to.. ;)

Did you pile some rocks/timber whateverin front of the wheels to drive it out..?

Thanks for the kind words, gents :-)
I took her up that steep narrow track to find it blocked by a barrier. I was reversing back down and lost concentration for a second and slid into the ditch. It turns out that for 4x4 to work, you need more that one wheel in touch with the ground :-(
Anyway, got lots of moral support and advise from the tourists and hikers coming down the trail, including a nice French girl who confused the English word for towrope with the word "bra" !
I was able to send out a "patrol" to request help from one of the local farms and two guys and a JCB rolled up. The rest is history!

Good recovery method, it could have been really hard work otherwise... They say that in London you are never more than six feet from a rat, I suspect in Ireland you will never be to far from the nearest JCB... Glad you got it sorted with minimum fuss. Potentially stressful stuff at the time.
