I am not sure what this guy is, but he was puffed up and looking soft. 420mm, f/5.6, 1/250, ISO 200

Outstanding! Sharpness detail and lighting are top notch. Maybe clone out the twig on the left

Beautiful shot. Maybe a type of sparrow?

GREAT detail of this chunky chick Jonny, did you use flash...? Spent a little time trying to capture little birds in the last week or so... enough time to know it takes more dedication than I presently have to begin to capture anything worthwhile.

I didn't use a flash Gedee. This was taken in the morning, and it's natural sunlight. I was probably wearing cammo when I took this. At the camp, I usually put on a cammo outfit and stroll around the yard trying to find a good place to hide near where the birds are frequenting. I then kneel down or try to stand close to a tree.

Sorry not to say thanks David and Kris. I may clone that twig out, but I have my stepson visiting and have been busy. So, thanks David and Kris!

Thanks for the heads up on the flash question Jonny. Putting the effort in to capture the image makes all the difference for sure, while it is ever possible to get lucky, to be consistently lucky takes lots of practice...(-:
